Tragic Collision in Pueblo West Results in Three Fatalities
In a distressing incident in Pueblo West, Colo., three individuals lost their lives after a car unexpectedly veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle.
The tragic accident occurred on Purcell Boulevard last Saturday evening. A Honda CRV, which was heading north, was abruptly confronted by a southbound BMW that drifted into its lane. The severity of the impact resulted in the unfortunate deaths of all passengers inside the Honda. Emergency services, upon arrival at the scene, discovered one individual who had been ejected from the Honda CRV and two others who were already deceased within the car.
On Tuesday, the coroner’s office disclosed the identities of the adult victims: 56-year-old Marie Quintana from Aurora and 48-year-old Jesus Guerrero Lopez from Denver. Also tragically lost in the accident was Quintana’s 12-year-old grandchild, also from Aurora. However, in consideration of the child’s age, his name remains undisclosed to the public.
Miraculously, the BMW’s driver, a 32-year-old man, endured the crash and sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
This devastating event led to the closure of Purcell Boulevard in both directions, stretching from Linda Avenue to Jaroso Drive. The closure persisted for a distressing seven hours, eventually reopening around 3 a.m. on Sunday.
While the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office continues its diligent investigation into the root cause of this tragic accident, preliminary insights suggest that alcohol and excessive speed might have played a part. As of now, no charges related to the incident have been formally announced.
